Amy M. Scurlock, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH).  Dr. Scurlock is also a researcher at Arkansas Children’s Research Institute.

Dr. Scurlock received her medical degree in 1998 from UAMS.  She completed a residency in Pediatrics at UAMS/ACH in 2001 and served as Chief Resident from 2001-2002.  She completed Allergy-Immunology Fellowship Training at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina in 2004.  Dr. Scurlock joined the UAMS Department of Pediatrics Faculty in August 2004 as a member of the Division of Pediatric Allergy/Immunology.

Dr. Scurlock’s clinical interests include allergic and immunologic diseases such as food allergy, atopic dermatitis, eosinophilic esophagitis, and primary immunodeficiency disorders, including newborn screening of infants for disorders of SCID and T-cell lymphopenia in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Health.  Dr. Scurlock’s research interests include clinical and translational investigation in food allergy, primarily focused on 1) Development and implementation of novel therapies for the treatment of food allergy; 2) Improved understanding of the immune mechanisms that are associated with food allergy and response to immunotherapy; 3) Investigation of potential food allergy prevention strategies through improved understanding of the factors that contribute to the development of food allergy.  Dr. Scurlock has been an investigator in both industry-sponsored clinical trials in food allergy, as well as serving as the Associate Director of the NIH-funded Arkansas Consortium of Food Allergy Research (AR-CoFAR) program.   Dr. Scurlock is the principal investigator for the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) Clinical Network Discovery Center of Distinction. She is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI) Society for Pediatric Research, Clinical Immunology Society, and American Academy of Pediatrics.  Dr. Scurlock is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI).
